At Doshisha University’s summer sessions, not only do participants study Japanese, they also pay visits to Kyoto’s famous shrines and temples and actually experience the traditional culture of Japan. Students are divided into different classes according to their Japanese ability. The classes are all conducted in Japanese. Meticulous instruction is provided to students to ensure that they can keep up.

August 6th, 2019The JSP at DWCLA offers up to 15 female international students both intensive Japanese language courses and Japanese culture and society courses in English.
Japanese Language Immersion Course(JLIC)
August 6th, 2019The program offers introductory Japanese language courses to students whose first language is not Japanese. In addition to studying in the classroom, students can also experience multiple fieldtrips during the course, which include tours of Kyoto.
Kyoto inspiration
August 6th, 2019The “Kyoto inspiration” program of Kyoto Seika University is a new program providing participants with insights into how Kyoto’s traditional culture has had an impact on contemporary popular media, for example, manga, anime, fashion and games.
The program lasts for 12 days, and the lectures will be conducted in English. Field trips, a one-night temple stay and 2 free days for personal explorations are included in this program.
Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program

The Program provides unique opportunity for undergraduate students from colleges and universities throughout Asia including Eastern, South-Eastern, Central, Southern and Western Asia to participate in research projects under the supervision of Kyoto University faculties.

Special study and training system
August 6th, 2019A system to take department / area specific classes. The period of study and training is one year. There is no graduation or completion certificate. Admission exams are conducted in the same way as regular international students.

RSJP/RWJP(Ritsumeikan Summer/Winter Japanese Program)

These programs are designed to comprehensively introduce Japanese language and culture. These programs offers a unique learning environment as well as opportunities for cultural exchange where participants can engage in short-term intensive language study.
Study in Kansai Program (SKP)
October 4th, 2022The Study in Kansai Program (SKP) is Ritsumeikan University’s non-degree study abroad program for 1 semester or 2 semesters. The program brings together students from around the world at RU’s campuses in Kyoto, Osaka, and Shiga Prefectures.
R-STEP(Ryukoku Short-Term Experience Program)
September 27th, 2024A short-term program of approximately two weeks, open to students from overseas partner universities regardless of their Japanese language proficiency, nationality, learning history, or cultural background. The program is based at Ryukoku University’s Fukakusa Campus and consists of lectures on Japanese language, culture, society, Buddhism, and fieldwork at historical and cultural sites around Kyoto. It includes various Japanese cultural experiences such as kintsugi (golden joinery), taiko drumming, traditional Japanese dance, sushi making, and making traditional Japanese sweets (jo-namagashi).
Short-Term General Japanese

Summer Intensive Course
August 6th, 2019This course is intended for those who wish to study during the summer holidays. It is an intensive class that meets 21 lessons per week from Monday to Friday.
During the period, extracurricular classes will be held to experience traditional Japanese culture such as tea ceremony, calligraphy, and Japanese cuisine.
